What is USDT BEP20
USDT BEP20 is a US-dollar-pegged stablecoin running on BNB Smart Chain (BSC). BNB Smart Chain is developed by the Binance ecosystem: the network is Ethereum-compatible, but its blocks come every few seconds and fees are usually cents.
An important technical detail: USDT on BNB Smart Chain isn’t issued by Tether itself but by Binance — it’s a token backed 1:1 by regular USDT (in the explorer it may be called BSC-USD or Binance-Peg USDT). For users it behaves like any other USDT, but some services and wallets don’t accept it, so before sending it’s worth checking that the recipient supports BEP20 specifically.

What USDT BEP20 is used for
- Cheap transfers between exchanges. Many exchanges support BEP20 and charge a small withdrawal fee on this network.
- The BNB Chain ecosystem. Decentralised exchanges and DeFi protocols on this network work with USDT BEP20.
- Frequent small payments. When amounts are small, a low fee makes a real difference.
- Changing networks. USDT BEP20 is often swapped for USDT TRC20 to pay people who accept TRON.
How to exchange USDT BEP20 at ROVEN exchange
- Choose a direction, for example USDT BEP20 → USDT TRC20 or USDT BEP20 → BTC, and enter the amount.
- Enter the receiving address on the right network and create the order — the rate is locked for 30 minutes.
- Send the exact USDT BEP20 amount to the address in the order, selecting BNB Smart Chain in your wallet.
- BSC transfers confirm quickly, so these orders are usually completed within a few minutes.
What to watch out for
- The main BEP20 risk is the shared address format with Ethereum. Your wallet won’t warn you if you pick the wrong network.
- Sending USDT BEP20 requires a little BNB for gas.
- BNB Smart Chain isn’t the same as the old BNB Beacon Chain (BEP2). Send on BSC specifically.
- Check the token contract: there are plenty of fake tokens called USDT on BSC.
If you mixed up the network
Because BSC and Ethereum addresses share the same format, “I sent USDT on BEP20 instead of ERC20” is a common mistake. If the address belongs to your own wallet, the funds aren’t lost: add BNB Smart Chain to your wallet and the tokens will appear at the same address. If the address belongs to an exchange or swap service, contact their support right away with the transaction hash.
How to add BNB Smart Chain to your wallet
In Trust Wallet, BNB Smart Chain is available straight away. In MetaMask and similar wallets you can add it from the built-in network list. Use only the built-in list or details from the official BNB Chain website: scammers publish fake guides with their own RPC addresses and ask you to sign a transaction, even though adding a network never requires that. After adding the network, USDT BEP20 may not show up automatically — in that case, add the token manually using the official contract address.
