AML/KYC policy
The ROVEN exchange anti-money laundering policy: which funds we do not accept and when we may request an additional check.
1. Why this policy exists
ROVEN exchange does not allow the service to be used for money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion or exchanging criminal proceeds. This policy explains what checks we run, when we may suspend an order and what we may need from the client.
The vast majority of orders pass the check unnoticed: a regular exchange requires no registration, documents or selfies.
2. Transaction screening (KYT)
Incoming transfers and payout addresses may be screened with blockchain analytics tools. They assess whether funds are linked to high-risk sources:
- fraud, phishing, exchange and wallet hacks, ransomware;
- darknet markets and illegal services;
- sanctioned addresses and persons;
- coin mixers and other tools for hiding the origin of funds;
- terrorist financing and other prohibited activity.
Screening is done automatically and manually by an operator. Its result is not an accusation: a high risk score can be caused by someone else’s actions earlier in the chain of transfers, and in that case we simply ask for more information.
3. When an additional check (KYC) is carried out
We may ask for additional information if:
- transaction screening shows a high or medium risk;
- the amount or pattern of operations is unusual — for example, large amounts or frequent swaps from different addresses;
- we receive a request or notice about disputed funds from an exchange, another service or a victim;
- there are signs that the client is acting on behalf of third parties or on the instructions of scammers.
4. What information may be requested
- an explanation of the source of funds: where the coins came from and how they were obtained;
- supporting materials — for example, trade and withdrawal history on an exchange, wallet screenshots, a contract or statement;
- in exceptional cases — an identity document and proof that you control the sending address.
We request only what is needed for the specific check and use it only for that check. How we store data is described in the privacy policy.
5. What happens to the order during a check
- The order is suspended; the rate is kept for the duration of the check if it began before the timer expired.
- The operator contacts you via the contact you provided or through support and tells you what information is needed.
- Once the information is received and verified, the exchange is completed or the funds are returned to the sender.
A check usually takes from a few hours to several business days, depending on how quickly the information is provided.
6. When an exchange may be refused
- the funds are clearly linked to fraud, theft, darknet markets or sanctioned addresses;
- the client refuses to provide the requested information or provides false information;
- the operation violates the law or the service rules.
If the funds can lawfully be returned, they are sent back to the sender’s address minus the network fee. If the law or a request from the competent authorities does not allow this, the funds may be frozen until the matter is resolved.
7. Prohibited operations
- exchanging illegally obtained funds and attempting to hide their origin;
- splitting amounts to avoid checks;
- using the service on behalf of sanctioned persons;
- swapping at the request of strangers — for example, a “job” moving other people’s funds or “help” with a withdrawal.
If someone asks you to exchange other people’s money for a fee, it is almost always a scam, and you may be held responsible for it.
8. Cooperation and help for victims
ROVEN exchange helps victims of fraud and cooperates with exchanges and services in investigating stolen funds within the limits of the law. If you have been scammed and the funds passed through our service, contact support with the transaction hashes — we’ll check what can be done.
9. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes in law and screening practice. The current version is always published on this page. Questions about an order check are handled by support — see the Contacts page.
