How to exchange ETH for ZEC safely and at a good rate
Exchanging ETH for ZEC is useful when you rebalance a portfolio or want to move from one network to another without buying stablecoins in between. At ROVEN exchange the coins are swapped directly, and the rate is locked when you create the order.
Ethereum (ETH) is the leading platform for smart contracts, DeFi and ERC20 tokens. Zcash (ZEC) is a cryptocurrency with optional privacy based on zero-knowledge proofs.
Why swap ETH for ZEC
Shifting between ETH and ZEC is a normal part of managing a portfolio: you change your exposure without cashing out to fiat. Zcash supports private transfers, but swaps use transparent addresses.
Networks and addresses
| You send ETH | You receive ZEC | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum (ERC20) | Zcash |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “t1…” or “t3…” |
| Network speed | a block comes every 12 seconds | a block comes roughly every 75 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send ETH on Ethereum mainnet, not on Arbitrum, Base or other layer-2 networks.
- You need a transparent “t1…” or “t3…” address; “zs…” and “u1…” addresses won’t work.
- The rate is locked for 30 minutes: send ETH within that time and you’ll receive exactly the amount shown in the order.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Ethereum (ERC20), a block comes every 12 seconds; on Zcash, a block comes roughly every 75 seconds. The whole ETH to ZEC swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
Right now ROVEN exchange swaps ETH for ZEC at 1 ETH = 1.904368 ZEC, with a minimum of 0.02 ETH. Fill in the form above: no sign-up is needed, and you can track the order status online.
