How to exchange ETH for BTC safely and at a good rate
Exchanging ETH for BTC is useful when you rebalance a portfolio or want to move from one network to another without buying stablecoins in between. At ROVEN exchange the coins are swapped directly, and the rate is locked when you create the order.
Ethereum (ETH) is the leading platform for smart contracts, DeFi and ERC20 tokens. Bitcoin (BTC) is the first and largest cryptocurrency, with a capped supply of 21 million coins.
Why swap ETH for BTC
Shifting between ETH and BTC is a normal part of managing a portfolio: you change your exposure without cashing out to fiat. Bitcoin is most often bought for long-term holding as “digital gold”.
Networks and addresses
| You send ETH | You receive BTC | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum (ERC20) | Bitcoin |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “bc1…”, “1…” or “3…” |
| Network speed | a block comes every 12 seconds | a block comes roughly every 10 minutes |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send ETH on Ethereum mainnet, not on Arbitrum, Base or other layer-2 networks.
- A Bitcoin address starts with “bc1”, “1” or “3” — don’t confuse it with a Bitcoin Cash address.
- The rate is locked for 30 minutes: send ETH within that time and you’ll receive exactly the amount shown in the order.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Ethereum (ERC20), a block comes every 12 seconds; on Bitcoin, a block comes roughly every 10 minutes. The whole ETH to BTC swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
Right now ROVEN exchange swaps ETH for BTC at 1 ETH = 0.03056589 BTC, with a minimum of 0.02 ETH. Fill in the form above: no sign-up is needed, and you can track the order status online.
