Swapping XRP for Polkadot: what you need to know
To switch from XRP to Polkadot you don’t need to sell for dollars first and then buy again. ROVEN exchange does it in one step: one order, one rate, one payout.
XRP is the coin of the XRP Ledger, built for fast international payments between banks and people. Polkadot (DOT) is Gavin Wood’s network that unites many parachain blockchains under shared security.
Why swap XRP for DOT
Coins serve different purposes, and sometimes holding DOT makes more sense — for faster transfers, staking or the Polkadot ecosystem. With DOT you get access to the apps, staking and tokens of the Polkadot network.
Networks and addresses
| You send XRP | You receive DOT | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | XRP Ledger | Polkadot |
| Address | “r…”, 25–35 characters | starts with “1” |
| Network speed | a transfer confirms in 3–5 seconds | a block comes every 6 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Required, from the order | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- When sending XRP, be sure to include the destination tag from the order.
- A new Polkadot address must receive at least 1 DOT, the account’s minimum balance.
- When sending XRP, include the memo from the order, or the payment will have to be traced manually.
- Send the exact amount from the order and do it within 30 minutes, while the locked rate is valid.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On XRP Ledger, a transfer confirms in 3–5 seconds; on Polkadot, a block comes every 6 seconds. The whole XRP to DOT swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
The current rate is 1 XRP = 1.349939 DOT and the minimum amount is 15.384615 XRP. Create an order in the form above, and ROVEN exchange will send swap updates by email or Telegram.
