How to exchange LTC for DOT safely and at a good rate
To switch from Litecoin to Polkadot you don’t need to sell for dollars first and then buy again. ROVEN exchange does it in one step: one order, one rate, one payout.
Litecoin (LTC) is one of the oldest Bitcoin forks, with blocks four times faster and low fees. Polkadot (DOT) is Gavin Wood’s network that unites many parachain blockchains under shared security.
Why swap LTC for DOT
Coins serve different purposes, and sometimes holding DOT makes more sense — for faster transfers, staking or the Polkadot ecosystem. With DOT you get access to the apps, staking and tokens of the Polkadot network.
Networks and addresses
| You send LTC | You receive DOT | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Litecoin | Polkadot |
| Address | “ltc1…”, “L…” or “M…” | starts with “1” |
| Network speed | a block comes roughly every 2.5 minutes | a block comes every 6 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send LTC on the Litecoin network only and allow time for confirmations.
- A new Polkadot address must receive at least 1 DOT, the account’s minimum balance.
- Send the exact amount from the order and do it within 30 minutes, while the locked rate is valid.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Litecoin, a block comes roughly every 2.5 minutes; on Polkadot, a block comes every 6 seconds. The whole LTC to DOT swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
The current rate is 1 LTC = 60 DOT and the minimum amount is 0.25 LTC. Create an order in the form above, and ROVEN exchange will send swap updates by email or Telegram.
