Swapping Zcash for Tezos: what you need to know
To switch from Zcash to Tezos you don’t need to sell for dollars first and then buy again. ROVEN exchange does it in one step: one order, one rate, one payout.
Zcash (ZEC) is a cryptocurrency with optional privacy based on zero-knowledge proofs. Tezos (XTZ) is a smart contract blockchain that upgrades through holder votes, without hard forks.
Why swap ZEC for XTZ
Coins serve different purposes, and sometimes holding XTZ makes more sense — for faster transfers, staking or the Tezos ecosystem. With XTZ you get access to the apps, staking and tokens of the Tezos network.
Networks and addresses
| You send ZEC | You receive XTZ | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Zcash | Tezos |
| Address | “t1…” or “t3…” | “tz1…”–“tz4…” |
| Network speed | a block comes roughly every 75 seconds | a block comes every few seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send ZEC from a transparent address, or move it out of the shielded pool in advance.
- Enter a regular “tz…” address, not a “KT1…” smart contract address.
- Send the exact amount from the order and do it within 30 minutes, while the locked rate is valid.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Zcash, a block comes roughly every 75 seconds; on Tezos, a block comes every few seconds. The whole ZEC to XTZ swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
The current rate is 1 ZEC = 5 070.11 XTZ and the minimum amount is 0.015385 ZEC. Create an order in the form above, and ROVEN exchange will send swap updates by email or Telegram.
