Swapping Cardano for Cosmos Hub: what you need to know
Exchanging ADA for ATOM is useful when you rebalance a portfolio or want to move from one network to another without buying stablecoins in between. At ROVEN exchange the coins are swapped directly, and the rate is locked when you create the order.
Cardano (ADA) is a blockchain with a research-driven approach and staking that doesn’t lock your coins. Cosmos (ATOM) is the coin of the Cosmos Hub, the centre of an ecosystem of interconnected blockchains.
Why swap ADA for ATOM
Shifting between ADA and ATOM is a normal part of managing a portfolio: you change your exposure without cashing out to fiat. With ATOM you get access to the apps, staking and tokens of the Cosmos Hub network.
Networks and addresses
| You send ADA | You receive ATOM | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Cardano | Cosmos Hub |
| Address | “addr1…” | “cosmos1…” |
| Network speed | a block comes roughly every 20 seconds | a block comes every 6 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Only for an exchange address |
What to watch out for
- Delegated ADA can be sent right away: staking on Cardano doesn’t lock coins.
- The address must start with “cosmos1”, not the prefix of another Cosmos network.
- If you’re receiving ATOM to an exchange address, be sure to enter that exchange’s memo.
- The rate is locked for 30 minutes: send ADA within that time and you’ll receive exactly the amount shown in the order.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Cardano, a block comes roughly every 20 seconds; on Cosmos Hub, a block comes every 6 seconds. The whole ADA to ATOM swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
Right now ROVEN exchange swaps ADA for ATOM at 1 ADA = 0.13323 ATOM, with a minimum of 100 ADA. Fill in the form above: no sign-up is needed, and you can track the order status online.
