Swapping Ethereum for Bitcoin Cash: what you need to know
Exchanging ETH for BCH is useful when you rebalance a portfolio or want to move from one network to another without buying stablecoins in between. At ROVEN exchange the coins are swapped directly, and the rate is locked when you create the order.
Ethereum (ETH) is the leading platform for smart contracts, DeFi and ERC20 tokens. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a 2017 fork of Bitcoin with bigger blocks and fees of a fraction of a cent.
Why swap ETH for BCH
Shifting between ETH and BCH is a normal part of managing a portfolio: you change your exposure without cashing out to fiat. Bitcoin Cash was built for fast, cheap transfers, which makes it handy for payments.
Networks and addresses
| You send ETH | You receive BCH | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum (ERC20) | Bitcoin Cash |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “q…” or “bitcoincash:q…” |
| Network speed | a block comes every 12 seconds | a block comes roughly every 10 minutes |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send ETH on Ethereum mainnet, not on Arbitrum, Base or other layer-2 networks.
- Use a CashAddr address (“q…”) so it can’t be confused with a Bitcoin address.
- The rate is locked for 30 minutes: send ETH within that time and you’ll receive exactly the amount shown in the order.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Ethereum (ERC20), a block comes every 12 seconds; on Bitcoin Cash, a block comes roughly every 10 minutes. The whole ETH to BCH swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
Right now ROVEN exchange swaps ETH for BCH at 1 ETH = 8.128466 BCH, with a minimum of 0.02 ETH. Fill in the form above: no sign-up is needed, and you can track the order status online.
