Swapping Tether for Bitcoin Cash: what you need to know
If you hold USDT ERC20 and want Bitcoin Cash, you don’t need an exchange account. At ROVEN exchange the swap takes a few minutes: you see the final amount in advance, and an operator checks every order by hand.
USDT ERC20 is the Tether stablecoin on Ethereum, accepted by virtually every exchange and DeFi service. Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a 2017 fork of Bitcoin with bigger blocks and fees of a fraction of a cent.
Why swap USDT ERC20 for BCH
A stablecoin is a handy way to hold dollars, but to benefit from market growth or use the Bitcoin Cash network you need BCH itself. Bitcoin Cash was built for fast, cheap transfers, which makes it handy for payments.
Networks and addresses
| You send USDT ERC20 | You receive BCH | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum (ERC20) | Bitcoin Cash |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “q…” or “bitcoincash:q…” |
| Network speed | a block comes every 12 seconds | a block comes roughly every 10 minutes |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send USDT on Ethereum (ERC20), not BEP20 or Polygon — their addresses look the same.
- Use a CashAddr address (“q…”) so it can’t be confused with a Bitcoin address.
- To send USDT your wallet needs some ETH to pay the network fee.
- Send the exact amount from the order and do it within 30 minutes, while the locked rate is valid.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Ethereum (ERC20), a block comes every 12 seconds; on Bitcoin Cash, a block comes roughly every 10 minutes. The whole USDT ERC20 to BCH swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
The current rate is 1 BCH = 279.619048 USDT and the minimum amount is 50 USDT. Create an order in the form above, and ROVEN exchange will send swap updates by email or Telegram.
