Swapping USD Coin for Cardano: what you need to know
If you hold USDC ERC20 and want Cardano, you don’t need an exchange account. At ROVEN exchange the swap takes a few minutes: you see the final amount in advance, and an operator checks every order by hand.
USDC ERC20 is Circle’s regulated stablecoin on Ethereum, with reserves attested monthly. Cardano (ADA) is a blockchain with a research-driven approach and staking that doesn’t lock your coins.
Why swap USDC ERC20 for ADA
A stablecoin is a handy way to hold dollars, but to benefit from market growth or use the Cardano network you need ADA itself. With ADA you get access to the apps, staking and tokens of the Cardano network.
Networks and addresses
| You send USDC ERC20 | You receive ADA | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum (ERC20) | Cardano |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “addr1…” |
| Network speed | a block comes every 12 seconds | a block comes roughly every 20 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send USDC on Ethereum, not Base, Polygon or Solana — those are different versions of the token.
- A Cardano address starts with “addr1”; it’s best to avoid legacy Byron addresses.
- To send USDC your wallet needs some ETH to pay the network fee.
- Send the exact amount from the order and do it within 30 minutes, while the locked rate is valid.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Ethereum (ERC20), a block comes every 12 seconds; on Cardano, a block comes roughly every 20 seconds. The whole USDC ERC20 to ADA swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
The current rate is 1 USDC = 5.373593 ADA and the minimum amount is 50 USDC. Create an order in the form above, and ROVEN exchange will send swap updates by email or Telegram.
