Swapping USD Coin for Stellar: what you need to know
If you hold USDC ERC20 and want Stellar, you don’t need an exchange account. At ROVEN exchange the swap takes a few minutes: you see the final amount in advance, and an operator checks every order by hand.
USDC ERC20 is Circle’s regulated stablecoin on Ethereum, with reserves attested monthly. Stellar (XLM) is a network for international payments and tokenised currencies with sub-cent fees.
Why swap USDC ERC20 for XLM
A stablecoin is a handy way to hold dollars, but to benefit from market growth or use the Stellar network you need XLM itself. Stellar was built for fast, cheap transfers, which makes it handy for payments.
Networks and addresses
| You send USDC ERC20 | You receive XLM | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Ethereum (ERC20) | Stellar |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “G…”, 56 characters |
| Network speed | a block comes every 12 seconds | a transfer confirms in 5–6 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Only for an exchange address |
What to watch out for
- Send USDC on Ethereum, not Base, Polygon or Solana — those are different versions of the token.
- A new Stellar account is activated only after it receives 1 XLM.
- If you’re receiving XLM to an exchange address, be sure to enter that exchange’s memo.
- To send USDC your wallet needs some ETH to pay the network fee.
- Send the exact amount from the order and do it within 30 minutes, while the locked rate is valid.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Ethereum (ERC20), a block comes every 12 seconds; on Stellar, a transfer confirms in 5–6 seconds. The whole USDC ERC20 to XLM swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
The current rate is 1 USDC = 6.272401 XLM and the minimum amount is 50 USDC. Create an order in the form above, and ROVEN exchange will send swap updates by email or Telegram.
