Swapping Stellar for Cardano: what you need to know
To switch from Stellar to Cardano you don’t need to sell for dollars first and then buy again. ROVEN exchange does it in one step: one order, one rate, one payout.
Stellar (XLM) is a network for international payments and tokenised currencies with sub-cent fees. Cardano (ADA) is a blockchain with a research-driven approach and staking that doesn’t lock your coins.
Why swap XLM for ADA
Coins serve different purposes, and sometimes holding ADA makes more sense — for faster transfers, staking or the Cardano ecosystem. With ADA you get access to the apps, staking and tokens of the Cardano network.
Networks and addresses
| You send XLM | You receive ADA | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Stellar | Cardano |
| Address | “G…”, 56 characters | “addr1…” |
| Network speed | a transfer confirms in 5–6 seconds | a block comes roughly every 20 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Required, from the order | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- When sending XLM, paste the memo from the order — that’s how the payment is matched automatically.
- A Cardano address starts with “addr1”; it’s best to avoid legacy Byron addresses.
- When sending XLM, include the memo from the order, or the payment will have to be traced manually.
- Send the exact amount from the order and do it within 30 minutes, while the locked rate is valid.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Stellar, a transfer confirms in 5–6 seconds; on Cardano, a block comes roughly every 20 seconds. The whole XLM to ADA swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
The current rate is 1 XLM = 0.912667 ADA and the minimum amount is 117.647059 XLM. Create an order in the form above, and ROVEN exchange will send swap updates by email or Telegram.
