Swapping Polygon for Cardano: what you need to know
Exchanging POL for ADA is useful when you rebalance a portfolio or want to move from one network to another without buying stablecoins in between. At ROVEN exchange the coins are swapped directly, and the rate is locked when you create the order.
POL (formerly MATIC) is the coin of Polygon PoS, an Ethereum-compatible network with fees in cents. Cardano (ADA) is a blockchain with a research-driven approach and staking that doesn’t lock your coins.
Why swap POL for ADA
Shifting between POL and ADA is a normal part of managing a portfolio: you change your exposure without cashing out to fiat. With ADA you get access to the apps, staking and tokens of the Cardano network.
Networks and addresses
| You send POL | You receive ADA | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Polygon PoS | Cardano |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “addr1…” |
| Network speed | a block comes every 2 seconds | a block comes roughly every 20 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Not needed |
What to watch out for
- Send POL on Polygon, not POL as an ERC20 token on Ethereum.
- A Cardano address starts with “addr1”; it’s best to avoid legacy Byron addresses.
- The rate is locked for 30 minutes: send POL within that time and you’ll receive exactly the amount shown in the order.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Polygon PoS, a block comes every 2 seconds; on Cardano, a block comes roughly every 20 seconds. The whole POL to ADA swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
Right now ROVEN exchange swaps POL for ADA at 1 POL = 0.511734 ADA, with a minimum of 222.222222 POL. Fill in the form above: no sign-up is needed, and you can track the order status online.
