Swapping Polygon for Stellar: what you need to know
Exchanging POL for XLM is useful when you rebalance a portfolio or want to move from one network to another without buying stablecoins in between. At ROVEN exchange the coins are swapped directly, and the rate is locked when you create the order.
POL (formerly MATIC) is the coin of Polygon PoS, an Ethereum-compatible network with fees in cents. Stellar (XLM) is a network for international payments and tokenised currencies with sub-cent fees.
Why swap POL for XLM
Shifting between POL and XLM is a normal part of managing a portfolio: you change your exposure without cashing out to fiat. Stellar was built for fast, cheap transfers, which makes it handy for payments.
Networks and addresses
| You send POL | You receive XLM | |
|---|---|---|
| Network | Polygon PoS | Stellar |
| Address | “0x” + 40 characters | “G…”, 56 characters |
| Network speed | a block comes every 2 seconds | a transfer confirms in 5–6 seconds |
| Memo / tag | Not needed | Only for an exchange address |
What to watch out for
- Send POL on Polygon, not POL as an ERC20 token on Ethereum.
- A new Stellar account is activated only after it receives 1 XLM.
- If you’re receiving XLM to an exchange address, be sure to enter that exchange’s memo.
- The rate is locked for 30 minutes: send POL within that time and you’ll receive exactly the amount shown in the order.
How long the swap takes
Swap speed depends on both networks. On Polygon PoS, a block comes every 2 seconds; on Stellar, a transfer confirms in 5–6 seconds. The whole POL to XLM swap usually takes 5 to 30 minutes once your transfer is confirmed.
Right now ROVEN exchange swaps POL for XLM at 1 POL = 0.5932593 XLM, with a minimum of 222.222222 POL. Fill in the form above: no sign-up is needed, and you can track the order status online.
